So, if you’ve decided to join us at the Vodafone Comedy Carnival in Galway this year why not go full hog and make it a trip to really remember? Here’s our pick of some of the shows and events running during the festival that are absolutely not to be missed.

Karl Spain’s Open Top Bus Tour of Galway Saturday 28th 3pm

Imagine you’re waiting for a bus, minding your business, and one rolls along with Karl Spain cracking jokes on the mic.  The quick-witted Limerick native reckons he knows a thing or two about Galway, so we’ve decided to test him. Karl will give a running commentary on everything from Nun’s Island to the Dyke Road on a hilarious one hour tour of the city aboard a Lally Tours open top double decker. Whatever you do, don’t miss this bus. Tickets available here.

Wild Atlantic Wahey Comedy Mystery Tour

Head off on a magical tour of comedy and mystery along the Wild Atlantic Way. You’ll board the luxury Lally Tours comedy coach, drive to an unknown destination and catch a twenty-minute set from one this year’s top stars at the Comedy Carnival. Rinse and repeat in three more mystery venues then return, full to the gills with Guinness, sea air and laughter.

Phill Jupitus Brunch @ Massimo

On Sunday 29th, Phill Jupitus will be curating a very special brunch experience in Massimo. The all-round comedy star has chosen a few unusual and intriguing dishes to be cooked by Massimo’s award-winning chefs and he will be spinning a few tunes to get everyone in the mood for a perfectly chilled Sunday morning.

The world-famous Macnas parade returns to the streets of Galway on Sunday, 29th of October 2017, as giants and otherworldly performers descend on the city for a night of mischief and mayhem.This year’s concept is a variation on an iconic theme: The Irish Wake devised by Parade Creative Director Orla Clogher. This tender, contemplative, and hauntingly beautiful parade will celebrate all that is mystical and magical about the West as it journeys through the Irish streets.

This year’s parade will feature the signature Macnas giant creations and sculptural images, pyrotechnics, bespoke costumes, and epic performances to live and original music. The parade will feature hundreds of performers from the Macnas Young Ensemble, Youth Ballet West, the Young Macnas Drummers, the community Macnas Ensemble, the Hit Machine and many more.
