4 Acts not to miss at the Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway.Comedy
The Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway is set to consume the city coming up to, and including, this October Bank Holiday weekend.
The line-up this year is incredible, with a mix of house-hold names and sparklingly new talent. So, to help you find some of those real gems we’ve put together the top 4 acts here:
The Dan Band
Nobody can nail an 80’s classic better than Dan Finnerty and his 3 amigos. Their appearances in Starsky and Hutch and The Hangover have cemented their status as a cult phenomenon. What started as a joke for Finnerty, singing “I Am Woman” at a karaoke bar, spiraled into a cult phenomenon which has garnered rave reviews, and is a must see at this year’s festival.
Friday 28th, Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th October – 11pm, Roisin Dubh
Improv All Stars
Treat yourself to a night of laugh-out-loud fun with Improv All Stars and their special guests.
This never-to-be-seen-again style of comedy creates a magical memorable night that will leave your sides splitting. If you’ve ever watched ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’, you’ll remember that when it goes right it’s funny, when it goes wrong it’s absolutely hilarious.
Friday 28th October – 7pm, Colin Mochrie & Brad Sherwood – Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent
Saturday 29th – 4pm, Colin Mochrie & Dermot Whelan – Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent
Sunday 30th October – 4pm, Colin Mochrie & Brad Sherwood, Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent
Paul Currie, FFFFFFFMILK
Paul is the Northern Irish master of surreal nonsense. A self-described bohemian clownarchist, his fans include such luminaries as Stewart Lee and Tony Law. As he says himself ‘Come and get your surreal on, wipe all reason on the doormat before you crawl on hands and knees inside the mind flume of Paul Currie and get ffffffffmilky’!’
Friday 28th October – 8:00pm, An Taibhdhearc Theatre
‘Sam Simmons Not A People Person’ is coming to Galway!
If you want to see something you have never seen before, like a man wheel onto stage wearing a karate outfit, roller-skates and prosthetic kangaroo claws. Or if you simply want one long joyous laugh throughout, then this is the show for you.
Friday 28th October – 8pm, The Black Box, Dyke Road
Saturday 29th October – 8pm, Róisín Dubh, Dominick Street
